FIRST STEP TO REACH HEAVEN

Teachers need to know what mistakes and successes have been done during the school year. The theme of self-assessment is a difficult and critical area amongst teachers. Its intention is to be directly diagnostic with a view to immediately impacting on the teacher’s next step. There are numerous reasons for using self-assessment. From a long-term perspective, we can assert that teachers, who understand what and how they are teaching, will make greater progress.

WBT shows a great example of this. Mrs. Maestra understood one of the Great Truths of Whole Brain Teaching.

To manage challenging students without controlling your own reaction to students, or managing students without following your own classroom management plan, seems to be aspects which need an improvement. This cannot be done by inventing new teaching strategies. However, self-assessment can be carried out:

“So, every week Mrs. Maestra gave herself a grade 1-10, (with 10 being highest) on her ability to consistently follow her classroom management plan. At the end of each week, Mrs. Maestra added these two grades (self control and classroom management consistency) together. This was her teaching score.”

I invite you to try this self-assessment experience and try to improve yourself. This will make you happier and more motivated with your profession,… and your kids will notice this!

I would like to present you the Seven Common Teaching Mistakes and the way to improve them by WBT strategies.  I hope it could be helpful to you:

See you!
